Brunswick (Sarsfield) Street

A truly wonderful shot of Sarsfield Street (Brunswick Street). The only recognisable building is the one on the right on the corner of Henry Street. This was one time known as Connolly Hall as it was the local headquarters for the ITGWU. In the late ’60s the building was purchased by the Franciscans and used as a hugely successful teenage recreation facility under the guidance of the very popular Fr Brendan and Fr. Ralph. Some of the best known bands at the time played in the extensive hall including Thin Lizzy. The premises in later years has been a restaurant (upstairs) and carpet store (main hall and basement area).
